In 2005 Dr McLoad and I developed a course for undergraduate students. The idea was to explore a research question using qualitative research which would, it was presumed, lead to theories about the data or subject which could be tested quantitatively by conducting a survey, inputting the data into a relational database (SPSS) and conduct frequency tests and statistical tests to determine if there was anything of significance to be found in the data.
